LADIES OF FEDI (all uhhhhh three of you (OH maybe some spinsterfriends?)): I have a VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION. TLDR: about hair
:smug_cat:

STORYTIME - I used to think I had straight hair because my mother has very straight hair and I always kept it as long as it would grow (never "cut," only trimmed). HOWEVER, in recent years I have cut it to the shortest it's ever been (which is still long for some people.... maybe bottom of my shoulderblades?) and I have BANGS again, and I have learned that I actually inherited my father's wavy hair. BECAUSE MY BANGS KEEP FLIPPING ALL OVER THE PLACE. THE OTHER DAY IT LOOKED LIKE A GIANT MUSTACHE ON MY HEAD :blobcatohnoes: But the rest of my hair is still long enough that it doesn't show the "wave"

SO

The question I pose to you: do I cut my hair more to see the wave? I LOVE long hair and I didn't even cut it to this (still "long" ish) length for... look I'm not telling you my age, you can guess :blobglare: but the point is I'm nervous and WHAT IF IT LOOKS HORRIBLE :blobcat_sad: Maybe I should cut it in increments? I just want to see if it would look nice with the waaaave (and maybe make my bangs look not as silly) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Help me ladies, I never thought I had wavy hair and have no idea how to make it look even more rad (or at least not silly) on me :blob_cool:

Thank you for reading my TED talk, pls send help :crackCat2:

Ahhhh yes, many such cases, Colleen. I am a straight haired girlie myself but all my sisters have wavy to curly hair. I would recommend finding a hairstylist who specializes in curls and waves. They will be able to give you the best advice. I think waves like layers, so maybe getting some of those will help them to bounce up. Also MOISTURE is your curly hairs bff. Maybe others with actual curly hair themselves have more info for you. 🤔 Anyways, good luck on your new hair journey! ❤️ :animu_excite3:

Only Extremely thin women can pull off short hair. Every single man on the planet will tell you to keep it long. I can pull off a chin length Bob, with sleek and shaggy, and I look great with baby bangs, but I always grow it back out. My hair grows Painfully slow. So I guess, are you Extremely thin? And how fast does your hair grow? Sometimes while contemplating a shirt cut, all you see are how they look on 9s and 10s. Try to look at before afters of "average" women before you dive in to the deep end. Also, how deep is your trust in your hairdresser? If you can convince them to be brutally honest, they should have enough experience to know exactly how happy someone of your age, weight, and face shape will be with the outcome of various cut options you present to them.

🤔 you may need curlers to help bring out the curls....I would look for a heat curl protectant product as a base...layering hair or thinning it (cutting layers on the underside) can help encourage curls...and if you really want curls, color your hair, doing some damage 😬 shockingly helps

Short hair is kind of like a fat dude. If you have a good face it doesnt matter, but if you dont its not attractive. (I am not trying to insult either of your appearances by the way) honestly I dont even know what you look like. I had seen a photo of colleen once but I am terrible at visualizing faces from memory.

I'm about 115lbs at 5'3" - I wouldn't say extremely thin but it seems to be good for me.
I don't think I could ever do chin-length, that is much too scary for me :pepe_nervous:
Hm, I don't pay much attention to how quickly my hair grows since I just trim the ends once or twice a year. To that end, my trust in my hair dresser is: my hairdresser is ME. So none at all :smug_cat:

I always want bangs, but I always have the issue like that. They're an upkeep, and they always end up in my eyes. If you want to keep your bangs, you'll need to use product and possibly heat (they have heatless curls too) in them to keep them tame, you'll want to curl them out, add product like hairspray or gel. I also suggest letting them grow out to the length of your normal hair, then side cutting them (side bangs). This will keep them down, with the weight of your hair and where you can pin them back if they're not working with you that day.

You didn't mention if it was thick or not I'm just going to assume it is.

I have thick wavy hair it's beautiful always has been. I'm a little older now but it still looks good even with gray mixed in with the dark. This is the haircut. Shoulder length with layers, side swept bangs, texturize the heck, with scissors don't let them use a razor, you got wonderful movement the waves turn into beautiful soft waves. Very feminine. The only thing I do is use a keratin shampoo and a keratin conditioner and then put a curl enhancer to get rid of the frizz and just let it dry. I only have to wash it like twice a week
Yes see that sounds like me
My DREAM would be to have knee-length wavy/ curly hair but I never was able to grow it longer than mid-thigh (still pretty good!) and it was straight. But since I found out it's wavy... I mean, it might be *gulp* EIGHTYS-HAIR wavy :blobcatohnoes: ... maybe I can try something different I DUNNO I mostly just combed it for a minute out of the shower and that was the extent of my hair care AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
@scenesbycolleen if you find out, lmk. my slight wave didn’t start showing until after i buzzed all my hair off (lice)

for your bangs i suggest getting a round brush that heats up rather than a round brush and a hair dryer. doing that can be difficult and it’s very hard to do physically (it’s like rubbing your tummy and patting your head for me)

i’ve chosen to ignore the wave in my hair so i can’t tell you any tips on taking care of it other than brushing it out will give you a lions mane

and for cutting it, if you want ideas always make sure you look up “wavy” styles or whatever type your hair is such as A1 or whatever

good luck

My hair was pretty straight as a kid, my mom always had bangs on me, and if I get them as an adult, she always loves it too. But as a teen, I would have side bangs, easier to take care of and they grow out a little bit better. I desperately need my hair cut, and I'm thinking of getting bangs again, but I don't want to deal with it 😂 I usually get above my shoulders now because it's all split ends and damaged.

>Every single man on the planet will tell you to keep it long.

My wife tried the short haircut after we had been married three or four years. I did my very best not to be honest about what I thought about it, but I didn’t do a very good job apparently because she grew it out and never cut it short again.
