@mushroom_soup wow what a great reply, it totally disputes that incredible effort was employed to prevent trump from winning the first time yet people were dissatisfied enough to actually show up, and he won.

the problem was that, he had dirt on him and now he's being blackmailed by israel, that is a different problem than "voting isn't real"
@sun @mushroom_soup uhhhh electoral college determines more than a majority vote, Trump did not win the popular vote in 2016.

Furthermore, we have Elon's baby mama Ashley Saint Clair on the record admitting that Elon casually admitted to engaging in electoral fraud via his own admission. There was no NDA signed between them.

Trump's current win was predicted by how much money backed up his campaign in comparison to Kamala's, not that their policies are that different (Trump is more Democrat than Republican afterall).

You are getting someone who kisses Netanyahoos dick at the end of the day.

Only major difference is that Democrats pander and pretend to care by doing shit like not codifying Roe v Wade to dangle it over voters heads. It's all the same shit and pretending otherwise implies that you have not accepted that the empire is falling.

At the very least, ((((((outside foreign influences)))))))) shouldn't be allowed to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to get their own candidates elected. That's not a fundamental problem with democracy, many other first world countries have laws that restrict that. We just happen to live in ZOG and you can't vote your way out of ZOG

@sun @mushroom_soup

When Biden won, it was around the same time an influx of children of immigrants like myself were eligible to vote, so there was a mass wave of eligible voters who did participate in the 2020 election.

Even if Kamala won the popular vote it wouldn't have changed a single thing. I'm surprised that you are blaming "young people" over blaming the DNC and their incompetency. Kamala couldn't even pretend to be against the Palestinian genocide and expected to have votes come to her, along with the low effort campaign.

That's not even accounting for the technocrats who were propping up Trump's campaign. It was clear he was going to win from my perspective.

I'm not dumb enough to believe that this country would vote a woman as president with the current political climate.
@sun @mushroom_soup the technicalities in the US voting system exist to make voting not matter via extreme gerrymandering, a 60% majority votes can lose to a 40% votes candidate via gerrymandering pretty easily in the USA. This "legitimate" (air quotes as i dont consider it legitimate myself) system can also prevent a third party (the most likely, and highest effective chance for betterment solution for american politics) or independents from entering the game, unless they have 30+% total voterbase support already. gerrymandering is forced political stability (isnt that good?), which, well, isnt that good. (see that word play with using the same phrase to describe positive or a negative quality i am so smart)

the US vote results are forced to be stable (not able to diverge from bipartisanism, or essentially it is impossible to protest bipartisanism via a vote, which is a big ticking problem), and anything a government forces to be stable, will create so much internal pressure, that the end result will be times worse than not doing it at all (see also: price fixing [see also: poland doing a little gas price fixing communism RIGHT NOW that is spiking prices higher than in neighbouring countries]). One option may be shittier than the other, but right now even the possibility of a non-shitty option appearing is a practical impossibility. the fact that the US is p much split 50-50 on what are pretty much the same emulsified voting options, is also another reason for political pressure increase. Multiparty voting isnt going to FIX this issue, but it will ENABLE the possibility of atleast trying to fix some of the critical issues of the TOO stable US political system. pretty ironic to say that a political system is too stable, but a little thought later youll realize that it translates into stagnation at best, especially in these exciting times we live in.

really simplified but i dont know the topic deeper than this so any elaborations request will be met by "sorry im too unknowledged to further assume assumptions i have"
@subnetter @mushroom_soup I can get down into the weeds on this, I have participated in both democratic and republican primaries. first I want to say, I don't totally blame people for not wanting to participate, it's a time sink, and kind of distasteful because most people don't want to spend their time arguing politics in a hot room full of strangers.

democratic primaries are far less democratic than republican primaries, but it has changed somewhat recently. democrats used to straight up have party-picked superdelegates that were numerous enough to nearly outvote actual constituent-voted delegates, and that was in large part how hillary clinton got the nomination. During the Obama years, I watched as, in my district, the head of the democratic party was a hillary clinton supporter. We broke up into groups to argue for our desired candidates and finally to vote on delegate counts to send to the primary. Clinton got NO delegates. So, the clinton-supporting head made us vote again. She still got no delegates. She made us re-vote three more times until Clinton got four delegates.

Here's how the republican system went down: they had a "straw poll" for who should be the republican president of the USA. everyone voted. Then, the person in charge said, thanks everybody, after this point it's just party business, you can go home. Then, after most people left, they had the binding delegate vote lol.
@sun @mushroom_soup

I have to agree, because the alternative is doing nothing.

I don't want to vote anymore because I feel burnt out from all this nonsense. I once had to cover for a shift because someone didn't want to work with someone who was voting for trump.

I'm tired of there being so few options, only way to do anything is to vote. It's frustrating to see someone just take AIPAC dick in their mouth after giving them a vote.

But no matter how much I complain and say I will never vote again, I'm going to drag my ass to the booth because we're apparently always one phone call away from becoming either communist china or communist israel.

Or whoever has poloroids of slimy politicians eating kittens or whatever they do when C-SPAN isn't recording.
