@gabriel why is it that so many gen x devs are giant LLM shills. it's really like a spell has befallen them.
(related, i now know someone late genx/early millenial, who uses chatgpt for self-therapy and this stuff isn't making people less crazy)

4@sun @gabriel i get that most coding is a shit experience, especially when it's towers of abstractions (i'm borderline unemployable, because my brain just blocks if i have to do stuff i'm not interested in and will do everything last minute when the stress hormones give my brain enough kick to do stuff. recipe for a mixture of boreout and burnout or something.)
wouldn't throwing LLMs into the mix be going to make the few nice pieces of code worse? i like nice code. nice code makes me happy.

maybe genx is just so old that they are in don't giving a shit territory now? it's funny to me that DHH is such a giant LLM shill now, it's a whole different "vibe" than a few years ago when he was interviewed for corecursive. that's why i have the feeling it's a strange way to act now. it's like some people have replaced their whole set of ideals and it's a bit spooky.
@bonifartius @gabriel speaking for myself as barely gen-x I don't give a shit about a lot of stuff anymore as of a few years ago because every god damn thing is fake and gay so just do what you want
@bonifartius @gabriel I know gen-x hate is strong my you have to understand that we deferred our entire fucking lives through bad times (not as bad as now though) because fucking boomers told us to just wait and things will work out. and it never did and now we're old and left holding the bag. again still doing better than zoomers, whom I feel bad for.
