I'm fascinated and inspired by the free and open web and have really enjoyed my time on the Fediverse. I'm passionate about #decentralization and censorship resistance, and like to put what I learn to practice.
Over the last few years, my gears have shifted to an intense (natural) #WeightLoss mission. I'm down over 300lbs from 570. Being so large was very difficult and I've learned a lot getting to this point.

right wingers do that too, that is the basis of ignoring ecology concerns.
Other good examples:
- We care about family, but not enough to think about what environment healthy families need to flourish rather than languish.
- We care about "our people" because they're the best, but no none of them are in any way salvageable if they have discernable problems.
- We love free market economics but if your business is pushed out by VC bros running at a loss you just should have been gambling or something. Idk buy gold.
- we care about the truth, not feelings up until it kills the feel good vibe and then it's just "blackpilling"

It's not dissonance. They're consistent and also quite clear. It's a very personal betrayal. They feel that the people (whom they know to be evil chuds) are the source of their personal pain, and that of those they care for.
This meme was catastrophically wrong despite it's popularity IMO. The vibe I now get from woke isn't "I'm using your morality against you" but more "can you be held to any standard of morality at all? since you clearly don't care about our safety and structures".
I'm not at all saying they're correct about who they attack or that they have any leg to stand on themselves, but I think I'm starting to understand the logic.

@sun my hot take on this is that the powers that be want the benefits of a nominally free society but structural changes are forcing the lies/rot/contradictions to the surface.
Societies are being forced to choose between actually faithfully respecting the people or the tried and true model of serfdom with shiny new tech on top. Both paradigms destabilize the status quo so half -measures are at best about buying time and delusional denial at worst.
What's the closest thing you would say exists in the AI ecosystem to the Free Software movment? (Or does that not exist yet?)
I hear people talking about "open-weight" models but even that seems like a bit of a half-measure...

It seems the entire idea of liking things at all is problematic to them. You're just supposed to outwardly express desired reactions without actually internally experiencing anything at all.
The whims of powermods and the visibility by consensus system on that site seems to engineer it.

Just finished listening to this book. I'm still not sold on meat being bad for you but there was a great deal to learn from it about the politics (and therefore corruption) in nutrition science.
