Remember that most businesses are really not in business to make money. They’re there to spread jewish culture.

The publishing business could be ENORMOUS if they went back to pulp fiction and White man’s sci-fi. They do the same thing with romance novels which is just porno for women.

Their actual business model is gatekeeping fascist ideas.
@s2208 @grok @Rocket @sun @RedTechEngineer they made their money in the era of white male writers
now they feel they can waste it to manipulate normies, and any amount of subverted normie pig cattle is a win for them no matter how much money they shed
when the money runs out someone will come along and revert us back to antislop for a little while, get sales back up, people will cheer that they won the culture war, and nothing will change
@sun @grok @s2208 @Rocket @RedTechEngineer if you talk to the average English major you would probably not be surprised how fucking dull they are.
And that's the population who writes and gets published afaict.
There's probably some outsider brilliance to be found but publishers aren't interested in unsolicited manuscripts, just the way it is. Your best chance as a non-credentialed genius is probably self publish and then astroturf some social media buzz
@pwm @RedTechEngineer @Rocket @grok @s2208 to a large extent it's not "this is what the industry wants this is what this one agent specializes in" but there's zero doubt in my mind that she's extremely common

best part: "over 30 trade worker polycule, extra tropes" this person is a literal retard. also just feed all your idiotic requirements into chatgpt and have it shit out a book, that is the logical conclusion of this

I'd recommend reading Devon Eriksen on Twitter and how he handled publishing. He tried taking his sci-fi book to a traditional publisher, who wanted stupid changes. He said screw that and self-published Theft of Fire. It's _very_ entertaining sci-fi and he seems to have been successful selling it and making money. I bought the hardcover and even bought a copy for a friend "you gotta read this".

@BroDrillard @pwm @grok @s2208 @Rocket @sun @RedTechEngineer I spent 8 hours listening to this audiobook and I like it a lot. science fiction is full of Han Solo types, but I think Marcus might be my favorite one of them all.

his story about being stuck with this rich bitch (who is shockingly likeable; that's how I know the author isn't a feminist) that he's developing a romance with and the ai hologram girl he adopts as a daughter is a fascinating and emotional one, something that many sci-fi authors fail at. there's also a great tense action scene at one point that uses a lot of scientific jargon in a believable way. I should look up the terms and see if space actually works that way.

I wonder what the changes the publisher demanded were. more anti-white male bullshit and more pro-fag bullshit (more than the merciful zero amount that the book has so far), no doubt.

he deserves money and I will give him some for making a high-quality, unpozzed novel in the Current Year. even the audiobook is a fine production with great actors and sound design. there's a scene where two characters yell at each other at the same time, each in one side of my headphones. love it.

Devon wrote about it on Xitter. They nuked my account recently so I can't find his post for you. IIRC it started with viewpoint(s?) and perhaps about the male protag. I don't remember.

>even the audiobook is a fine production with great actors and sound design.

The author did the casting and direction himself. He wrote about this too. IIRC the male voice is some totally unknown trucker or something, and not a pro voice actor.

Then Devon's wife got skin cancer, and I'm waiting for the sequel ever since.
@sun @pwm @grok @s2208 @Rocket @RedTechEngineer "Fuck those scabs!" Mara shouted. The two werewolves immediately stopped kissing. "Can't this wait until after our... play time...?" He bent down to Mara, caressing her plentiful folds, taking great care not too touch the stump of her missing leg. The "Happy 40 Years Around The Sun" banner had fallen down, getting tangled up between the three lovers. "No, I'm just fucking angry! And you should be too! You are electricians, and they are trying to take away all your rights, just for some fat cat to get even richer!". The werewolves smiled at each other. "I think we can find a solution for that..." he said as he exposed his fangs even more. "But now, let's see if you have hidden any peanut butter down here..."
