I have over 10,000 physical paper books in print. That sounds like chicken feed, but remember that I had no editor, no agent, no marketing, no publishing house. It’s just me and Amazon print on demand.

And that's the population who writes and gets published afaict.
There's probably some outsider brilliance to be found but publishers aren't interested in unsolicited manuscripts, just the way it is. Your best chance as a non-credentialed genius is probably self publish and then astroturf some social media buzz
