@mushroom_soup @reallyangry @Xenophon @Humpleupagus @penguin @DMA @adequate Oh shit, this pottery proves conclusively that Ancient Greek men sought sheboon wives and formed racially diverse military units comprised of foreigners and half-breeds; how could I have failed to see it in my four decades of familiarity with the subject ? Nolan clearly got it right and we’re all just a bunch of racist hillbillies. What a great movie to set the record straight ! I’m sure Homer would bestow many kisses and blessings upon him 😂

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @Humpleupagus @penguin @DMA @Dagnar @Xenophon @matty @adequate @graf @reallyangry you're working under the impression that it's impossible for me to have genuinely liked the movie and therefore what i feel must be something akin to Stockholm syndrome. i'm telling you that there's no reason i would hesitate to say if i had disliked the movie. i know it's hard to believe that someone might have a different opinion on something than you do but do at least try, 'everyone actually agrees with all my opinions and the ones that say they don't are actually lying!' is such a boorish position to hold
>i understand what an adaption is.

I don't think you know you do. Adaptations do not pretend to be the original source material, hence the root "adapt" in the word. An adaption can be fake and gay and bad, because that's the entire point.

>I want to imagine this old work outside of the social conventions of the time. I want there to be queers and blacks and I want White people to be the villains.

Okay. Sounds like a shit story. But it isn't pretending like the original author believed things they clearly did not. It isn't forcing us to watch certain people act a roll to push the directors agenda on us, while pretending it's because those people are somehow uniquely qualified to read a line.
