@sun about 5% of movie subtitle sentences are mistranslated slightly or catastrophically in real world movie theatres and nobody really cares, let alone OpenSubtitles ones, same goes for books; the first translations of Roadside Picnic for example are really bad into english, i am quite certain already older AIs of yester, maybe yesteryester year would do better jobs than all the old Roadside Picnic english translations (i know there is atleast 1 very good translation though somewhere)

also saw the markiplier movie at home in the cinema and there were subtitles; the subtitles were in english only lmfao

@sun as a proficient and near-native english enjoyer personally, i have NEVER seen a movie at home theaters without at least 5-10 outright story-important WRONG sentences in a movie theater professional translation; open subtitles is usually better (ive also seen some movies at home with better open subtitles subtitles than professional movie theater ones)

also i am a movie theater enjoyer which i guess is cringe to an extent even if i pirate the same movie at home before or after lol
@sun @lebronjames75 Actually considering using AI for some language learning endeavors since the voice is good enough now that you're not going to learn unnatural speech patterns. You can prompt something like "I know x list of vocabulary, generate a script about y subject of interest such that I will have 80-90% comprehension. Make a list of unknown vocab for reference." and have new, perfectly optimized learning material daily for whatever language you want.
