@sickburnbro It's like in my area we have kids zooming around on those electric powered mini-bikes and scooters. Yeah, they can be a pain in the park and sidewalks and they should be more careful. Someone will eventually get hurt. But people are always getting hurt. You want to shut it all down on the kids? Just for spite? Because that's what they did with covid, too. For the same reasons.

But fuck. Don't they remember doing the same shit when they were that age? We were zipping down dirt side roads on little Kawasaki dirt bikes and ducking into the corn fields to get away or hide from the occasional police car. Not that it made a difference because the police knew exactly who we were. Their kids hung out with us, too. And they knew all our parents being local themselves so they'd talk to their parents and we'd get a talking to in turn. Then go right back out the next weekend.
@sickburnbro In the small town where I grew up the youth would gather at nights at the largish parking lot that bordered the local McDonalds. They did that, for, I dunno, years. Now if they were "yoots" instead of "youths" I can well imagine the McDonalds and neighboring strip mall would be boarded up and abandoned after a month.
@sickburnbro an annual state park pass here over the past 10 years has doubled to $50 for in state
probably because there's a bunch of useless eaters living on pensions and talking shit while getting all kinds of quarter million dollar annually healthcare to keep them alive so they can continue on the gangster paradigm which they all love to larp like they aren't massive fans of

i fucking hate these boot strap niggers and if i had the time i'd challenge them to fights on next door all day long and go kick their fuckin heads in
my area is trying to change things, but whenever a positive step is attempted every boomer above the age of 60 comes out in force to throw a tantrum about it. the day of the pillow can't come soon enough.

like recently, they put in a foot/bike train straight through the middle of the city. great, right? But the boomers bitched about it so now you can only use it when the sun is up. when the sun goes down you have to either walk on the 45mile per hour street with no sidewalk (again, when theres no sun) or drive. In December, that means that path is only legal to use 9 hours per day.

theres also a huge NIMBY culture for roundabouts for some reason? We had a 4 way intersection that was basically impossible to ever cross from 2 ways because the perpendicular road was way too busy. The city is putting a roundabout there to solve this, and you would think the government just announced they are revoking social security or something. they took this as such a person offense, they really want a 4 way stop sign intersection for some reason??? which would block so many driveways with how forever backed up that intersection would be.

They've also been sitting on plans to convert the massive stroad into a 2 lane with a planted median buffer, but they can't get out of the planning stage because the old fucks are acting like its genocide.

also there's currently a "crisis" where these old shits keep calling the emergency number when they see an unaccompanied minor, meaning real emergencies get delayed responses.

@sun @feld @sickburnbro its kind of amazing how the us population, especially boomers, have this insane duality of being laissez faire toward a lot of sin and vice, but also being uptight dickheads about meaningless things like kids fishing in a local pond or having hair of a length that annoys them at the moment

what a cohort of spergy niggers

gm btw, have a great day
@sun @feld @sickburnbro btw sun i worked at a family owned hardware store in the late 90s early 00s and boy howdy did they fuckin hate any tattoos or hair out of military standards

i actually got a couple tattoos while i worked there and they made me wear long sleeves, an ace bandage or a like shooter sleeve thing

bonkers to think i put up with it, but it was a pretty easy fuck off job where we had fun making air guns and bombs and we worked on our paintball guns
@dictatordave @feld @sickburnbro say what you will about mexico and its culture, but one great thing about mexico is that people just try to get by in bad situations and it's just accepted and people go about their day. in the usa if a car is temporarily parked facing the other way on the street so you can unload a piano, within two minutes some fucking bitch karen is looking out the window calling the police
