think my biggest problem with AI is that i can't trust it so i just use opus 4.6 extended for literally everything so there's the least chance of screwups like this comical one

it's also why I believe AI is fine for creation but never execution. have it write or do something you can run that is consistent, don't let the thing run it for you

@7666 i use gemini extensively to locate primary sources for obscure technical stuff, because it sits on google's search tooling. it "does" stuff like this all the time, you really notice the lack of formal reasoning once you apply it to anything formal. at most you can get it to regurgitate the most common way of doing x

like generally i find the pattern generation part completely underwhelming but i think people are sleeping on the pattern matching half of the equation

@scathach @whiteline it is very good at pattern matching and identifying. give it a large dataset and it will spit out things even you missed. the scary part is the conclusions are always so authoritatively stated even though it lacks context and awareness outside the dataset. guarantee you we'll get AI reinforcing the 13% stat.
