think my biggest problem with AI is that i can't trust it so i just use opus 4.6 extended for literally everything so there's the least chance of screwups like this comical one

it's also why I believe AI is fine for creation but never execution. have it write or do something you can run that is consistent, don't let the thing run it for you

@7666 i use gemini extensively to locate primary sources for obscure technical stuff, because it sits on google's search tooling. it "does" stuff like this all the time, you really notice the lack of formal reasoning once you apply it to anything formal. at most you can get it to regurgitate the most common way of doing x

like generally i find the pattern generation part completely underwhelming but i think people are sleeping on the pattern matching half of the equation

@whiteline @7666 Imo the strongest use-case for LLMs is in data description and classification, which frankly scares the absolute shit out of me because that's also the missing piece in turning the massive bodies of surveillance data collected by governments and ad companies into an effective-ish predictive policing system
