It's very strange how a lot of establishment types seem to place greater weight on criminality than on a behavior being disgusting and shameful

It's like their sense of ethics is subordinated to the state rather than actual objective morality

@scathach "disgust" and "shame" are hardly what I'd call objective morality either though

@patchuun Disgust and shame aren't indicators of morality so much as they're indicators of social custom, but they are also how morality is felt

@scathach I think they can be responses to immoral things but it's dangerous and a mistake to assume everything we react with disgust or shame to is immoral (or inversely, to assume things we aren't disgusted by or ashamed of are moral!)

@patchuun I like to think that on some deep level everyone knows innately that deeply evil customs like female genital mutilation and factory farming are immoral even if we've grown up in cultures where they're normal
