Online stuff and entertainment-centered stuff selects for certain opinions. I do not think it is a conspiracy etc, just pitching to what the hardcore audience wants, even though that is a smaller group than the wider audience.

@amerika @pwm @sun I think it's "avoid upsetting the noisy hardcore audience". The hardcore are a niche audience by definition. But "if we don't do this then people will get mad" combined with "journos suck" and "It turns out the journos are just the fuckup kids of wealthy families and they were sent out to do PR because they were not gonna be useful" gets you pretty close to $current_year.
