slop coders are not ‘developers’, in the same way AI ‘artists’ are not artists and AI ‘musicians’ aren’t musicians

@ug Software development is to actual engineering as a $5 blowjob is to having sex with someone you love, slop coders are the most developer of all developers

@scathach “engineer” or “architect” have always been extremely loaded metaphors, with the exception of maybe people who write machine code / firmware

still I’d rather use an app where someone actually designed and worked on than some machine generated bs

and the long term implication of slop on top of slop where no one knows how it works is gonna be a major problem when it’s no longer economically viable to burn through centuries of oil in a week

@ug @scathach >still I’d rather use an app where someone actually designed and worked on
experienced developers are doing this with AI and the results seem to be good, so you'll use AI generated stuff anyway. (plus its like on KDE, Linux, etc already)

@mischievoustomato @ug @scathach

>The results seem to be good

Does nobody keep up with infosec at all or do we just parrot bullshit in favor of what's the "cool" and acceptable opinion?

Honestly, the only silver lining here is that the level of Dunning-Kruger slop shilling devs continue to display and promote, will inevitably accelerate what is to come.

@subnetter @ug @scathach i dont really think about infosec guys much if at all most days. Again, if with vibecoded stuff they produced stuff with those problems, they would've handcrafted the same problems themselves.

@subnetter @ug @scathach also, i dont 'parrot' stuff because its hype or cool or acceptable, i parrot it because it's what i've experienced myself and seen

@mischievoustomato @ug @subnetter Tomato your entire personality and worldview is parroted, you're the human equivalent of a doormat
