doc very heavily recommended eating soaked oatmeal since it forms a lining in the stomach that reduces sugar intake, reduces insulin spikes. sounded quite good, didn't check truthfulness.

@kaia doesn't really form a lining, but it does reduce insulin spikes due to the high fiber making it so the carbohydrates/sugar are absorbed more slowly
it also tends to be a very filling meal which helps reduce snacking and such on usually less healthy things
