@iwillbite @mangeurdenuage it's a cult to the religious participants, who are often distinct from the people who actually contribute code and do the work. Where there's overlap, there's usually cat ears involved.

@jeremiah @mangeurdenuage I have cat ears omg
@iwillbite @mangeurdenuage the next step in our interview process: are you a member of any other cults, such as Rust programmers? This does not disqualify you, rather, it helps us route you to the right group of lunatics.
@jeremiah @iwillbite Rust possibly being one of the worst.
@mangeurdenuage @iwillbite they have recently sinned against St. Zimmerman, and the Ubuntu Heresy is bringing it into their darkened cathedral:

@jeremiah
GPG code is famously shit. The entire ecosystem around PGP is nonsensically stupid and overly complex at the same time. Remember how key exchanges were nuked with poisoned certs because the code was written in the 90s by some OCaml nerd and nobody could figure out how it worked for two decades? That's the sorry state of PGP.

@newt @jeremiah @mangeurdenuage @iwillbite When one obtains the forbidden knowledge of knowing that PGP is actually packet based with side-effects despite it all being literal files, they quickly search for other alternatives.
@jeremiah @iwillbite I'm aware.
@jeremiah @mangeurdenuage idk anything about computers ๐
@iwillbite @mangeurdenuage that's cool, neither do rust programmers! Just remember that the answer to all questions of security, feasibility, and diversion of effort is, "memory safety." Practice saying it with a smug face in the mirror, and you'll be ready in no time.
