@pwm @f0x @syzygy @mischievoustomato I mean I think the best way to get an accurate assessment of where you're from is actual history records to trace back genealogy. I've heard those DNA kits are a bit wishy washy and inaccurate even when used on pets, and for someone with my ancestry it wouldn't benefit me, only them, to archive and bank my ancestral genetic markers. I'm good, there's not a lot of info on people from my region anyways.

Unfortunately, there are many mysteries in my family I will likely never have the answers to. I only learned that my abuelo was a child slave after he passed, and then I realized that his "brothers" were not biologically related to him at all, which makes sense in retrospect. No way to chase down any sort of records, I would have to ask the other side of my family. All I know is that one of my grandfather's was full Spaniard (I'm assuming), and yes, the overwhelming majority of women in my family were native women who were kidnapped or sold off. They still don't speak badly of their late husbands.
