@deprecated_ii idk man if you're using it responsibly its genuinely just a better way to do things. Im watching my coworkers struggling to meet their deadlines hammering away at a computer for 20 hours a day. I dont need to write my 23,960,213rd proprietary optimized container class and the 2 billionth unit test that hammers on it

@RustyCrab @deprecated_ii I'm generally not anti-clanker but I do worry about it enabling people to do enterprise-grade code but EVEN HARDER this time
@binkle @deprecated_ii i do exactly the opposite where i avoid dragging in unreal engine size dependencies and then do a few iterations to simplify it. The only exception is unit tests. I make a lot of god damn unit tests

@RustyCrab I'm not going to claim that nobody can use it responsibly but I doubt that describes 1% of professional users. it's 0% for people using it to do things outside their own expertise and experience
humans are just not wired to be able to resist this sort of thing. it's one step removed from directly stimulating the pleasure centers of the brain with electrodes. this is creating a disaster across every difficult field in real time and for what, so we can generate code faster? until 18 months ago literally everyone in the industry laughed at the ideas that 1) producing lots of code was a good thing and 2) that measuring volume of code produced over time was a good metric for anything
having lots of code is bad. code is a liability. if someone could demonstrate that these clankers were capable of significantly reducing complexity in an existing codebase without breaking anything, instead of causing a complexity explosion, THAT would be impressive. but that's still 100% up to the programmer, because you can't generate a better architecture one brick at a time. and the number of programmers who can do such things is dwindling faster than anyone can imagine, either through auto-lobotomy or by just leaving the industry to farm gerbils or whatever
