@david because i like the sound of his voice. if you're asking what he actually does in those twenty minutes, usually it's comparing the story he's covering to several other recent ones and repeating himself. any good programmer knows the value of redundancy

I believe a video has to be able to accommodate a certain number of cut-in ads to get monetised properly, and I might be wrong about that, but I think for YouTube that length is 20 minutes.
