Both sides of the rainbow curtain want a time capsule of mid-2010s internet, whether it's internet blood sports and edgy /pol/ racism or social justice crusading and rampant cancel culture. I'd say the rest of the internet's moved on while we culturally haven't. We're just Diet Bluesky at this point. It's why I repost so much Misskey art and like accounts that just post stuff they like on here over the ones that choose to impotently scream into the void about politics.

The change in user base has been a problem. It was better before poast and kfcc and NCD shitted up every thread but it was tempered and mitigated by the off-kilter normies from noagenda.social before Pastor Adam blew it up. Meanwhile old school SPC users have drifted away and those who didn’t leave are some of the best remaining users along with a select few with other homes.

@Leyonhjelm @anemone @sun KFCC, Sneed/Chudbuds, and Gablins like NCD have done such damage to the ecosystem here. I'd even take the Minds/Quodverum boomers over them. Poast has some good posters but for every good one, you get 5 idiots that act like saying "Hitler bless" after a sneeze is a revolutionary act and not a sign of mental illness and internet brainrot.
The world's changing. People in the US are pretty damn miserable to the point that I'm seeing graffiti pop up with affirmations rather than edgy tags. People climed the Empire State Building to hang some protest sign against sociopathy and peoples' response seemed more curious than anything.
I'm seeing stuff about the tourists for the World Cup talking about how kind and warm and generous we are as a country. We are. But we're not doing well right now. I'd say the general mood is defeated. So forgive me if I don't have patience for people viewing everything through a racial lens or starting tempests in a teapot over ideological purity. The whole damn country needs a hug right now, and if these clowns got out, touched grass, and actually cared about people as much as they say they do, they'd see it pretty quickly.
