I remember in High School I'd play hookey, go to the local burger king, buy a whopper with a coupon for $1, get a cup for "water" and then jump on the bus for less than 2 bucks round trip and see a movie for 5 bucks.

16I remember McDonald's actual Dollar Menu, not their $1-$2-$3 Dollar Menu
Now they're 5.50 each
Goyslop used to be cheaper, higher quality, and overall a more enjoyable experience.
My friend and I tried to eat $10 of Taco Bell in the 90s. Didn't even get close with everything 39 cents or so. Worst decision and never repeated.
When I was flat broke I used to buy organ meats from the butcher for $0.50 a lb or a carton of eggs for about the same. Couple that with some rice and some kind of spices/sauce and I was fine. Food costs could be down to ~$5 per week. This was in 2010. The same strategy today would likely be at least $40.
We need a massive deflation event now
You see that story where some guy found a Taco Bell receipt from 1999 perfectly preserved in a library book?
Plebz gotta pay a premium for fast food now, and it is Ultra G0Y SL0P Murder Matrix. Globohomo gets rich makin plebz sick on SL0P, then gets rich on muh mandated "health" "care" insane!
@Terry I remember in High School taking the bus to school, spending the morning with friends, not going to a single boring class, walking home, reading books, masturbating, and then walking to the nearby graveyard with a lunch and watching the cars drive to and from the Caribou Ferry while eating my Dagwood and drinking a 2L of golden ginger ale. Those were good Mondays. Praise "Bob".
what's even more insane to me is that gen-X keeps up the boomer narrative of how much harder it was for them in the 80s when they paid for a truck for $50 bucks and had to put in about $100 bucks into it over a yearwhen they were 19-20 so that they could laboriously work 40 hour days at a hardware store during the summer to pay for two semesters of college. As if today any of that is even remotely possible lol.
boomers are just evil, not out of touch. they had their soul sucked out by the tv. totally oneshotted by it
I 'member my 2-3 times a week breakfast at McGoyims back in grad school (3 sausage biscuits, a hashbrown and a cup of coffee) being $5.
