retard brains on twitter honestly think 2,500 marines are going to tip the scales in US-Iran war.

If you gaslight them enough, they'll even tell you they could take over the whole country.

@Terry They've watched enough propaganda to believe that every marine and soldier is a Space Marine from Warhammer or their favorite Marvel Hero.
And they all know someone else who was in the military so it's the strongest and the bestest.
@pinemarten @Terry Also worth examining just how drastically technology has changed in the last 80 years

The machine gun nest was the most challenging thing US soldier would face

Now they have to face machine gun nests and swarms of remote controlled flying bombs

If battle hardened Russians can't figure out how to beat that, the mutt brigade who's never had another human fire back at them in anger certainly won't
@pinemarten the transport ships and escorts will have to pass a strait in between Queshm island (larger than Okinawa) and Iran, which is 5 miles wide and it's widest part, less than a mile wide at it's narrowest. It will be a total shooting gallery.

If they miraculously survive that without too many casualties they can still be targeted by Iranian missiles as they sail up to Kharg Island and if they by some miracle survive that, when they try their D-day style landings on Kharg island, they will meet a determined "near peer" foe, and if they manage to overcome that and establish a beach head, they will quickly find their positions were dialed in weeks ago by the IRGC as every available ordinance in the area is rained down on them.

And on top of all that any resupply by sea, would have to run the same gauntlet they just went through.

Resupply by air is impractical and just as risky.
>Marines are a special breed....the 2500 that are being sent are an even specialer breed .. Rah
LOLOLOL. Marines stationed in Japan were easily reassigned. That's it. This ain't some action movie with super-soldiers pulled from cryo.
@NecroHole @Terry These morons have no idea how war works. Even if 2500 Space Marines from w40k landed, it wouldn't accomplish much. Ukraine proves this. Even if every guy is armored like a tank, FPV drones can just pick off each one. Ukraine and Russia started out with masses of armored vehicles and have switched to horses, dirt bikes and drone teams. Iran just skipped straight to the latter, and America wants to go in with light infantry alone. Lunacy.
@NecroHole @Terry The only special forces unit I have any respect for is Delta and I still remember the US sending them into Palestine, shortly followed by them getting surrounded and ganked because our leaders are retards who expected them to squash all resistance by themselves.
@Tactical has the A-10 ever provided close air support against an enemy with sophisticated Surface to Air missiles?

I know some got banged up in this first Gulf War but that looked like fire from heavy machine guns or cannons.

Do you think people care or think about this logically? They just assume that the Iranians are just the same "retarded sandniggers" of Afghanistan. It's the ultimate stage of imperial hubris, on par with Britain and Egypt during the Suez crisis.

@Nudhul @Terry WW2 Marines had no choice but to be the best and worst of all soldiers. If you weren't you died pretty quickly.

The Marines of Desert Storm and GWOT were organized into a very heavy, hard-hitting amphibious force with a higher density of medium machine guns than your typical army infantry battalion. The Marines high-level mission was to kick in the door to allow the army campaigning forces to take over. Literally state-level door-kickers. Around 2020-ish they complete the "transformation" into a "littoral combat force" and gave up all of their tanks and heavy artillery. Essentially what they are now is infantry but with a mandatory swim qual.
