This was probably the first specific example of NLP that I noticed, long before I even knew NLP was a thing. The word “vixen” appears in the title sequence, along with the character (Maid Marian)’s name. Since I first saw this when I was three or four, I was able to read it; and as it’s a curious sort of word it stood out in my memory.
In the many years that followed, the word “vixen” was overwhelmingly used thenceforth in an erotic sense. But that cell from the title sequence was always the core foundational memory upon which that semantic cluster was built.
In time I came to discover a number of other individuals making claims like that Maid Marian was their “first cartoon crush” or the like; and I suspect the more autistic-susceptible types may even have become furries eventually. But because it was always a completely conscious function that I’ve been aware of the whole time, it did not end up having the same effect. Such things tend to have a bigger-if-more-insidious impact if kept tucked away subconsciously.
