This was probably the first specific example of NLP that I noticed, long before I even knew NLP was a thing. The word “vixen” appears in the title sequence, along with the character (Maid Marian)’s name. Since I first saw this when I was three or four, I was able to read it; and as it’s a curious sort of word it stood out in my memory.
In the many years that followed, the word “vixen” was overwhelmingly used thenceforth in an erotic sense. But that cell from the title sequence was always the core foundational memory upon which that semantic cluster was built.
In time I came to discover a number of other individuals making claims like that Maid Marian was their “first cartoon crush” or the like; and I suspect the more autistic-susceptible types may even have become furries eventually. But because it was always a completely conscious function that I’ve been aware of the whole time, it did not end up having the same effect. Such things tend to have a bigger-if-more-insidious impact if kept tucked away subconsciously.

If stuff like this was the catalyst, then I take a step back and ask, "well then why didn't I end up like those goobers?"

I would guess they probably went from here to porn, specifically porn with those same characters, which I assume exists, but I've never searched for.

Then the difference becomes, "did it occur to you to go looking for porn of some cartoon character?," and if you did, well, tough break kid.

I'm an oldfag. From a time when people didn't usually have internet, when internet was a thing only found in schools.

My first encounter with internet was in school.

First thing I did when on a school computer when no one was looking was try to find werewolf porn, lol.

I was having "thoughts" about anthropomorphic animals long before I gained access to any porn, much less furry porn.
Interesting. Hmmm 🤔 I was a big Robin Hood fan. I never considered what effect, if any, cartoons had on us. I was sorta unnaturally obsessed with Garfield, & Tom & Jerry, too.

Drew tons of mice as a young girl, then put udders on literally everything for quite awhile. All of the mice even 😆 I was a good artist into my teens. No furry tendencies, though.
