I don't think the slow cooker method is going to work. After a couple of hours, a little bit was extracted but it just burnt on the bottom of the bowl. I'm just going to do it on the stove again tomorrow. Last time I made tallow it was on the stove and I poured it out frequently which is probably why none of it burnt.
@Lars Sounds like you're trying dry rendering. Your temperature is too high. Either set your temperature lower (225 F) or consider wet rendering.
@billiam I dont have much control with the crock pot and it was already on low. I gave up on it after seeing the burnt bits. Im currently doing it on the stove top
