20Why you looking like Sui?
@Frank @Folklore @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @graf Because he is Sui, duh.
@adequate @Frank @Folklore @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer I wish the decayable kids could see your cat ears and party hat friend
send mama shroom the thing youre using ?
@fknretardlol @Folklore @Frank @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate Nah you guys have to be fully moved off soybox. You're first on my list but I am waiting for hardware
@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate decayable is still on soybox? lol and not pleroma?
@Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate yeah because gleason got me beaned from gitlab where our source is hosted so I have to clone it, run it somewhere where gleason isn't going to get me beaned then write a migration that works for like 50 instances. You wanna do it for me?
@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate will work for sheckles lol
Sounds like a pain in the ass but probably solvable. Depends if each instance has its own db or not.

@Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate yes. they are all independent. it's not an insurmountable task but I need hardware for every one of those instances. and I am waiting for our ISP to provide that so I can move them and migrate them at once instead of doing somehting and then redoing it again 2 months later. make sense?
@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate Makes sense. why do you need to wait for the isp though?
unless you get butt hurt messages to the isp.
or run them all under one.
Idk, for me, i'd probably vps the front ends across multiple services, and store the DB on owned hardware.
But thats a bigger scale than I deal with. I'd have to think about it for awhile but solvable.

@Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate They are replacing their entire hardware lineup. They have to move existing customers to new hardware then they open new orders. I can tell the owner I need hardware but I'm not going to put undue stress on him when its not required. He knows I need a lot of hardware and soon. Why do you give a fuck?
@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate I like hardware and infastructure. Idk im a nerd?
So lets say you have 50 legit instances (i assume like 40 of them are single user or close) so what i'd do (depending on domain rep) is use proxies for the FE basically each instance would get it's own vps (again depending on budget and usuage) I'd have the front ends live on vps's and keep a master db on owned hardware I control.
Based on my usuage I may just run the db at home with fiber and an unlimited plan, and it should be good, but that still leaves the fucking media.
So for that probably colocation for the media server.

@Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate You should start an instance hosting company Tony seems like you'd do great.

No one pays for that shit.
I'm working on some other shit that pays lol. I do b2b stuff professionally. So im working on some backend accounting stuff im going to start selling.

@Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate Yeah. You're telling me. I've been operating at a loss for every month but 2. But I'm doing it out of pocket still because people rely on the service. It's being run as efficient as possible with the database and storage isolated on the same hypervisor with local backups and offsite. But with the lack of people now it costs me about double what I charge for it every month. so I have to get this moved when I can. again, I'm waiting
wtf tony...
you've got a dozen users

@koropokkur @Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate "stats":{"mau":16},
he's got 16 actually

@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @koropokkur @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate AND GROWING, lol slowly.
if yer nice, maybe you can buy an old server from graf when he uprades.
@koropokkur @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate @graf servers arent the issue. Currently the clew box runs at 1% total cpu usuage. Bandwidth is the bitch right now.
