To play devil's advocate, I think that's an uncharitable interpretation of his words.
If he'd posted "It's been two years today since George Floyd died", half the comments would be asking about the shooting instead. So, he clearly made the decision to circumvent that by mentioning it first in his tweet that was primarily about George Floyd.

He'd already made 4 tweets about the shooting, then made this one after.
The "As we grieve..." part was clearly a segue, not meant as a dismissal of the shooting.

I get what you were saying, it does seem pretty insensitive, and I wouldn't have worded it like that either. (I mean, I wouldn't have brought it up at all, at least till the next day)

@yomiel no its fine I want to be as honest as possible in my posts, I am not gonna stick to my guns with a wrong interpretation for nine likes. I appreciate correction. I still think it was weird what he said but my interpretation wasn't right.
