Illness provides an excuse to be an under achiever. Some people opt for the stress of illness because unlike the stress of life, it's presumed to come with a sympathy card.

@toiletpaper @ree @PNS you make a good point if you're in the medical system you're always the subject of attention (nurses, docs, PT, OT, social workers, etc) and then if you play the victim card with the medical back drop on social media I bet you get a good dopamine hit from all the "sympathy".
