honestly this always shocked me when I'd see it discussed online. idk if its canadian schools in general or just the schools from where I grew up, but we were always told that around 12 to 13 million people died in the holocaust. it was never "6 million jews", it was "12-13 million people". seeing the 6 million statistic talked about online all the time, or the perception that it was only jewish people, always felt so shocking. idk if its just a us thing or something? but like, I've never understood why half of the victims just... don't get talked about.

I hardly remember any WW2 stuff from school (in Canada) other than the typical stuff associated with Remembrance Day. Never was that interested in WW2 anyway, so maybe I just tuned it out. But as to the 6,000,000 thing, everyone who does love the topic is always going on and on about it. Especially when Jewish. Not long ago I decided to do my own research on the subject and found out the 6,000,000 figure and use of the term "holocaust" in relation to persecuted Jews predates WW2 by about a century and is intrinsically associated with Zionist propaganda.
