@cell I think this came from forums and it makes more sense on forums since they were used as a sort of consensus mechanism for answering questions in a pseudo-legalistic system (not about law, theology term) that you can look up later (important)
so by opening a new topic you messed with the search allowing to find the prior decision and by bumping the old topic you made it harder to come to decisions on novel things
but fedi is not a forum, in any capacity, it is none of these things and has none of these attributes, so necroposting isn’t real here
