@sun There's a lot of discussion about the DSA starting to worm its way into mainstream Democrat politics and Republicans are using his popularity with DSA members as an attack vector. It turns out people don't like champagne socialist dog abusers that say the US deserved 9/11, who knew?
The Democrats are largely silent on this because they want the DSA gone too, and want to go back to being Reid Hoffman's decline managers.

@mrsaturday the dsa stuff is interesting to me but only because democrats are really fucking stupid and completely unable to detect co option by further left dipshits. Every democratic protest gets fronted by actual communists and democrats just absorb their talking points even when they’re knowingly deathly afraid of actual leftists

@sun Literally all the Democrats have to do is actually say they care about making your average person's life better regardless of color or sexuality and they'd have 400 seats in Congress tomorrow. It really is that fucking easy. They just refuse to do it, and the only reason why people are even entertaining the DSA crowd is because they're actually talking like they care about the issues people care about rather than wedge issue crap. Most people couldn't even tell you what the DSA is.
@mrsaturday the main thing I associate the dsa with is when they had the chair sniffer incident
@mrsaturday also there used to be so many funny videos of literally insane dsa candidates that they keep running
@sun One of them lost (albeit barely) in Wisconsin and a major reason cited why was a widely circulated tweet where she called celebrating Thanksgiving a sign of white supremacy
@sun I associate it with that pronouner showing up to a Sanders speech and leading with some "fae/faer" pronouns, and Sanders reeling back and doing a doubletake with his eyes wide in shock. These people are not the kind of people I want to see in charge of anything, ever. We gave them a taste of power in the 2010s and they were all about brutalizing anyone that got in their way.
@mrsaturday they are like Ron Paul libertarians, they got some good and even popular ideas but they’re loaded with nuts and would explode like a villain in a movie that tried to wield the magic power source with too much power for their corrupt body to handle
@sun I think the guy in Michigan they're trying to make the face of the entire push is relatively reasonable and actually incredibly smart, they're just using Hasan Piker and your garden variety Reddit/Bluesky socialist as an attack vector to go after him. That they don't really have that much other than guilt by association is kind of a bad sign for his opponents.
@mrsaturday @sun yeah there was an attack ad in michigan against abdul el sayed that tried to connect him to a clip of piker saying "america deserved 9/11 dude"
@mrsaturday @sun the /pol/ retards had their time in the sun so anythings possible
@sun @mrsaturday I miss when the Democrats were smart like Obama era. But now I think both sides are monsters and I can't do anything about it. Reminds me of any political group.
