@sun Lotta editors for synths let you route midi through them - was wondering if you're adding that in addition to the "play the sound" keyboard - would be cool to do that from a live device or assign params to physical knobs, etc. You're probably shooting for a different workflow tho.

@RapistGoku I can't really do anything live, the keyboard is just there to test notes rather than full musical compositions, which you write in a text editor. every change does a round-trip to the compiler on the backend so a ton of latency.

any particular reason you started working on it?

@Tourmaline I wanted to take classic game soundtracks:

* MS-DOS games using SoundBlaster 16
* NEC PC-98 games using OPNA

and extract the instruments so new songs could be written in the same styles.

now I'm just adding every "this is cool too" feature that doesn't break anything.
