@antares @Fullmetal2255 @tyler And that's exactly what happened IIRC, or at least, that's what the people thought would happen and it's probably accurate. So the whole thing is thrown to the wolves for the modicum of "respectability" they'll get for a wider audience that doesn't give a shit. I recall the EVO owning guys freaking out when the Japan branch Japanese women presenter did some fanservice and they shut the thing down lmao. It's like AGDQ, how it was at the beginning vs the absolute fake monstrosity it became. Is it even fucking worth it?
@coolboymew @Fullmetal2255 @tyler I think the heart of the issue in trying to put esports on a TV sports channel is that those presenters are trying to pursue audiences with deeper pockets (boomers) because the current audience of younger people isn't enough worth enough.
As for respectibility, there's an extent I don't consider esports impressive even though I would play a PvP game.

@antares @coolboymew @Fullmetal2255 @tyler a surprising number of people in video games seem only to want it as a springboard to a career in more respectable media entertainment industries like music and movies (which uniformly have both more mature and more prurient sexualized content than mainstream games already lol)

@sun @Fullmetal2255 @coolboymew @tyler I'm not surprised "sexualized content" doesn't appeal to older audiences who already have kids or no longer have sex drives.
But nowadays even tv shows and movies have sex scenes more overt than a panty shot or boob physics.
So the idea of censoring pre-existing fanservice in games to be more like pretigious like film and music seems like dated.
