As I was walking home last I passed an apartment block and appreciated the fact that you could see from a distance that it was lived in and filled with people. All the windows had different colors of light, some were flickering, some dark, some watching something on a screen, some with plants overflowing. And I thought about how flat our view of what a fediverse instance looks like from the outside. How could we represent a small community and the diversity of the people within more like this?

Has anyone made a good guide for how to ask for survival money on the fediverse yet? One that outlines how tagging strangers isn't a good long term strategy. That it can temporarily work for engagement but sooner or later you will either loose your account or get blocked so much that you don't have much reach. There is this influx of people trying to crowd fund for their survival coming here and we should help provide them with the means to continue to do so sustainability.
@deutrino @deadsuperhero I completely agree. @silverpill's Mitra has some support of crypto payments but there its still a bit too technically minded to set up for the majority of people who I could really see getting good use out of it.
an interesting thread on Bluesky about why people are choosing to build on #ATProto instead of #ActivityPub

@julian you don't want to platform people who are unwelcoming to devs? I think the issue is that a lot of the devs who show up are also totally oblivious to how their stuff effects the network and people who use it and the implications of their code on peoples lives. So I don't think it's as easy as just us being more welcoming to builders either sadly
> snac-first by design, not "compatible by accident"
enjoyed seeing this in the description of a new fediverse client for `snac`

@gfsc I was excited about this project from this thread until you suggested that people get in touch via Discord! That totally obliterates all your points in the previous post. "Hate having to give personal details to find out about events? Get involved by giving your ID to Discord to help solve the problem!"
@sun being able to do something and there being a clear path to the thing in practice are two different things.
I don't think people here realized yet how much development has sped up in the "atmosphere*"
I fear for the future of the fediverse if we don't get our shit together in some key areas. The way the lexicon system over there allows interoperability between distinct types of data and interface is really showing now that the developer ecosystem is picking up.

a warm welcome fediverse welcome to El Raconet, a hackerspace in Alicante, Spain
I had a thread I posted ages ago about how there needs to be a global wiki about every piece of hardware on earth that attempts to doccument all the components in them and their status or jailbrokenness/openness and randomly listened to another podcast episode from @NGIZero about a project they funded called DeviceCode that is attempting to unify data sources from a number of different wikis into a single searchable database. It really needs a nice web interface though
Thank the heavens for all the falafel cooks of Berlin keeping this city fed. This city would be unbearable without their tureless support. #teşekkürler #شكرًا #متشکرم
@uriel there isnt an implementation of any protocol that has all these properties, which is one reason why Christine has been working on Spritely Goblins this whole time
liveblogging is hard lol
I guess that'd also called posting while listening
