@grey it looks good enough and the wood is protected behind another layer of paint, i dont see the problem

It's funny that the photo still shows the patina beneath the paint. It must not be on there very heavy.
It looked like it was in lousy condition before. Sure, it could've been given a brown stain, but the black paint is still a visual improvement.
