@anemone @lain fish are pretty dumb compared to other edible animals though. other animals also like cuddles in way fishes really dont which I suppose is another criterion I have. makes me sad to eat animals that want cuddles.

@sun@shitposter.world @georgia@netzsphaere.xyz @lain@lain.com yeah a lot of fish are quite intelligent. intelligence is difficult to measure, but we've observed fish using basic tools, and many species of cichlid make nests and care for their young after they hatch

@anemone @georgia @lain I had a big one in a tank in my living room for years and it was always interested in what I was doing.
