Apparently Folderless Sui put some badges on my Poast account but since I was a Poastie only I couldn't see them. Still no clue where badges might be located.

Those badges Sui puts on you are only visible from Decayable. If you want badges on an NCD account that you want to see from NCD, you need to talk to Matty and/or I think @The_Almighty_Kek
Our badges are like helpful post-it notes for our instance members, if really obscure in-jokes that no one involved even remembers the source of anymore are helpful.
See?

Damn that might be the worst one I've seen, the fuck did he do to deserve that..

On my tags do you have me down as the blackest nigger on the fedi?
@pwm @Doll @Sui @Captain80s @Dagnar @Shiplap @The_Almighty_Kek did you ever figure out how to get those to federate?

@pwm @Captain80s @Dagnar @Doll @Shiplap @Sui @The_Almighty_Kek like a patch that people running it could use
@bajax @Doll @Sui @Captain80s @Dagnar @Shiplap @The_Almighty_Kek fundamentally the data isn't federated, even local users don't report their own badges. It's sort of like instance specific graffiti
I just gave you a badge that is local to decayable for instance (https://decayable.ink/@bajax@baj.ax) . It's a super duper hack how it works imo, the frontend just trusts whatever the backend has, the backend has what it has

@pwm @Doll @Sui @Captain80s @Dagnar @Shiplap @The_Almighty_Kek hmm I should learn how the protocol works and look at implementing it-- lot of other stuff I'd like to do with patches lol
@bajax @Doll @Sui @Captain80s @Dagnar @Shiplap @The_Almighty_Kek The way the badges are implemented, works like how pleroma keeps track of moderators and admins, in the 'tags' column of the database. the "badges" go in there and are just formatted as 'badge:' and the frontend renders them if it cares. pleroma api doesn't expose those fields at the actor endpoint so the info can't federate (even if it could there are questions about what it would mean, who assigns badges? can you only set them on yourself? why not just put that in the profile/bio/whatever fields that are already there?) anyway, it's a broken mess that sui really likes.
@pwm @Doll @Sui @Captain80s @Dagnar @Shiplap @The_Almighty_Kek very open to abuse-- but I'm amazed the network hasn't needed to become whitelist-based anyway from spam
I saw badges mentioned and was interested, then zoned out about the other stuff and then saw badges again.
