The problem I see is of cause and effect. Repetitive Negative Thinking (RNT) is usually based on cognitive distortions, that's the whole basis of (drug free) Cognitive (Behavioral) Therapy. TL;DR: if you think bad thoughts about yourself, you will make yourself feel bad. And most of those thoughts are wrong.

So to what extent are those cognitive distortions coming from deficits of cognitive function...? How does C(B)T fail in people??
