@Parzival I have heard it described as a competent pastiche of the best parts of other, good movies.
@feld @Parzival direct book to video conversions are rarely good. we're watching an adaptation of a spy thriller right now and there are parts where people just tell the main character stuff, which kinda works in a book, but in a movie you're like "why does everyone just volunteer information to this guy"
@sun that makes sense. I did feel like there were things that could've been good in it, but yeah the humor was godawful, and it felt like there was too much of it, where I never felt much of any tension... And all the random plot holes and physics breaking was... disappointing. I kept thinking about how I would rather be watching Sunshine, or Pandorum, or Event Horizon. Not that it had to be "scary" or whatever, but I prefer my sci fi apocalypse stuff to contain more gravity. I never once felt like "Oh shit, is Gosling or Rocky gonna survive?" Which isn't ideal.
The effects were high quality, and I did like how the east German woman was very okay with sending people to their deaths. I think it'd have some emotional thrust at the end if when he goes to rescue rocky he's too late, and then he dies alone in space, or something. I dunno. If it wasn't gonna be a downer ending, I wished it at least would pretend to be before the final act. Sorry, I'm rambling haha.

@Parzival
I thought it was alright, but the telling part is how outstanding it was compared to all the other shit that society has grown accustomed to over the last decade or so.
