Comrades,

if you've ever wondered about communism or socialism but might not know where to start, check out:

- second thoughts socialism for absolute beginners. Its a YouTube so you can let it run while you cook or do the laundry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpKsygbNLT4

- foreign languages press (they do a good job following modern and more relevant socialist theory as well as Marxist fundamentals) https://foreignlanguages.press/

But do not under any circumstances deign to browse the communism subreddit. One trip to the comments section will remind you precisely why Mao wanted to put a bullet in every intellectual he met.

Each thread is one of three formats:

- did some obscure former seventeenth century nation truly have a revolution? (Spoiler, who gives a damn.)

- what is the nature of communism in India? (Spoiler, it is fully reactionary minority.)

- why did some obscure early 20th century philosopher get censured by the soviet politburo? (This surely isnt my thesis I'll never finish for my degree)

Each question is then followed with a 650 word copypasta from the internet archive and sees maybe 2 replies.

r/communism is a containment board for PhD and post doctoral philosophers with three Barista jobs and 250k in student debt to shit cathartically on anyone unlucky enough not to have read the complete works of Engels Marx and Lenin.

r/communism is a theoretical toilet to fiddle in whilst the collective Rome burns. There is no practice, only wild and conjectural theory.
