Suddenly after age verification dropped in SystemD, computer progs can magically see how changes get rammed down their throat. not a chud conspiracy theory anymore is it, assholes.

@sun Isn't it literally just a DoB field added to the user DB? That's not "age verification" it's just a metadata field about a user account.
Unless they did more than that, I think this whole thing is just another case of humans showing their swarm stupidity by spreading panic and anger over a nothingburger.
Assuming it's just a DoB field: There's many sensible ways to make use of that in such a way that the adult owner of the computer retains full control and any user of the computer retains privacy. The crucial point is that the metadata fields about users are under admin control.
I'm not pro systemd but I'm anti being so anti against something that one sees problems where there are none.

@taylan I actually don't think it's that big of a deal but it followed the exact same pattern of "this is happening whether you like it or not"
@Leyonhjelm @taylan @sun free software doesn't really mean "every user's opinion matters". If you really care about being able to have software truly tailored to your needs or wants, you use a source based distro like Gentoo or Nixos. On both I have my own patches for some stuff I care about.
@mischievoustomato
I don't know what you're arguing with here. I literally used Gentoo until I no longer cared about it enough to bother, and then when I finally needed hardware again I bought Apple. I'm too old and too busy for this shit. Computing hasn't been fun in about a decade, probably a little more, so now it's all just appliances. That might mean "they win" but what it really means is I walk away from the screen a lot more. Rather turn a wrench or mow the pasture than flip bits.
