@sun i don't think so
@condret it definitely was done for jan6 they swept up people walking around for what some other people did
@William_The_Dragonborn @condret I think from an objective perspective he overcorrected by letting everyone go but I guess I understand why it was good for his base to do it. a lot of people were thrown in the can and literally tortured who did nothing but walk around a building and left wingers memory holed that fact, so I guess everybody is ok with torture and incarcerating people for literally nothing. it's all tribal so who can really give a fuck
@sun @William_The_Dragonborn there is a radiospeech from Goebbels, where he mocks democratic parties for demanding free speech from the nazis. his point was "you idiots where foolish enough to let us have free speech, so we got into power. Don't expect us to repeat your mistake".
And as good and just as it sounds granting everyone the same rights, that isn't necessarily a strategy to success. i wish things were different, but you have to steamroll your openent in one way or another for success.
i do have my own criticism of the way how jan 6 was handled: i do think too many people got prosecuted for it, people who didn't do anything.

@condret @William_The_Dragonborn I'm glad you feel that way because it's verifiably objectively true. also that some people deserved prosecution and to be found obviously guilty.
with regard to speech, if we start getting more specific in america, then I definitely think a lot of people that implicitly support violence should get thrown in the can then, but nobody actually wants to see everybody fairly handled like that so absolute free speech remains the best safe option for the USA.

Try going loud with the JQ.
